Sabbatical is coming close...

|
Next week on my calendar, I will be going through the sabbatical week, or in the case of us Sec 2s, the Civil Defence Course and IDS week. IDS is Inter-Disciplinary Studies, which is pretty like the project work that our school has initiated (which, personally I think is unfair), except that it is counted for only 5 pts for the whole year.

Tomorrow on my calendar, it will be the last day of submission of ACE, thus I am stuck in my room writing this post rather than sleeping on my comfortable bed right now. Hopefully, I would get my ACE and not go to the O-lvl class next year. Ah, the great plans the school has initiated!

Best Nation in the World

|
Today, while reading my weekly copy of the Newsweek magazine, the title stared at me and took me in instantly. It shows the Best Countries in the World.
Singapore, being a micro-nation, has a high rating of the 20th in the world. Of course, if small takes the best, Luxembourg, being 5th in the world, should take the honours.
Malaysia, my home, is rated 37th in the whole world. That's higher than developed nations such as United Arab Emirates and China. I am very impressed. However, the list might be inaccurate, however, I am still proud of my fine nation

Perfectionist-ic Blog Post- Nothing

|
I'm back from the void of not posting blog posts, and back from the terrible truth known as blogging for grades. Since this is a perfectionist-ic blog post, i would try not to make mistakes, or what we call 'screw up' this blog post.

So what am I going to talk about in this post? Nothing. Yes, that's right, I'm going to talk about nothing. What is defined as nothingness? From dictionary.com: nothingness is the state of being nothing; something that is nonexistent. First, I will bring in a fallacy that is more of a joke than a real statement.

We consider the two statements. Nothing is better than eternal happiness. / A burger is better than nothing. Thus, we conclude that a burger is better than eternal happiness. Yes, that was taken from Wikipedia. In this case, the first nothing has the definition of an absence, an impossibility of a thing, while the second is meant by having no item. Thus, the nothings are not equal, and thus this fallacy is illogical. But this was meant as a laugh. Here comes the real topic.

In mathematics, zero is an important number, but that was when real maths came in. Before that, it was just a placeholder. For instance, if you were a shepherd and wanted to count your sheep, counting zero sheep would be useless as you would end up to have nothing. However, now zero is important is many mathematical problems. For instance, a quadratic equation, which is a2x + bx + c = 0 is a way of creating and getting solutions for everyday answers.

In science, a state of 'nothing' is impossible to generate, as a space, even as a vacuum, would have gravity and electromagnetic fields. Also, a vacuum would take up some space as it needs to be stored in a sort of universal container. Thus, usage from literature and science about the concept 'nothing' has significant differences.

To that, I end my post on nothing. If you, my dear reader, do not understand my blog post above, well, you don't understand nothing. =D

Cheers,
The Author.

Hey there, today i'm going to blog about my holidays, and I chose my title as the Olympic motto. Why, you might think, I used this to be a title for my post. For those who don't know, it means, in English, faster, higher, stronger. These are the three attributes that I have completed in the holidays.

Faster: I went ice-skating in the shopping complex on Wednesday. It wasn't much, as it was my first attempt on it, I fell 13 times (talk about unlucky) and crashed 6 times (whoops). It was murderous, my feet burnt, my clothing was drenched, and I was suffering from frostbite. Not to mention my wealth had depleted by 30 bucks. Ouch! Nonetheless, this was my first try, and I would like to get faster after every attempt.

Higher: I got much higher scores at home using my broadband connection. However, my computer broke down, causing me to have a breakdown, as I have to use my old 2.5kg desktop (pardon) and the internet speed, I hope, will get faster and faster.

Stronger: I have went exercising to get stronger and (hopefully) pass my physical test this year. This included running to the park (it wasn't nearby), doing push-ups (I can't anyway) and playing football. Burning calories is way better than hellish training.

Peace Out,

Rainbow Death Blog Report

Rainbow Death

America did not foresee
Green, pink, purple and other colors death potpourri!
Expecting others to pay a high price.
Now thinking twice?
Toll on the innocent and unborn.

Omnipotent and disregarding who will mourn.
Reflective about all the illness, birth defects and prematurely dead.
All the deceit continues to spread.
Nefariously America led astray -
Generations untold WILL pay -
Execrable effects of agent orange spray!

Hubert Wilson

Rainbow Death is a poem that shows the different fatal reasons of war. This is shown as the fact of death caused by war is reconsidered. The innocent and unborn are shown as the victims as "toll" shows. The second stanza shows that war led America astray and its major causes are illnesses, birth defects and prematurely dead. It shows that the uninformed generations will have to suffer much, especially orange poison gas in the last line.

LA Online Learning-Is Maycomb a Good Place to Stay? Pt/2

My 2nd strongest that is available is linguistic, which pains me as it is the hardest one for me to do. Nonetheless, I will try to complete this task. I will complete the task that requires me to write a newspaper article about one of the events happened in the novel. I will write about Atticus' decision to defend Tom Robinson.

FAMOUS LAWYER DEFENDS BLACK MAN

A Mr Atticus Finch has took the decision to defend a black man, Thomas Robinson, who is charged of rape of a white woman, Mayella Ewell, in court. This choice shocked the public of Maycomb and disgusted the citizens.

Finch, father to a son and daughter, Jean Louise and Jeremy, is one of the better lawmen of Maycomb. His decision made Maycomb County despise him and that gave him the title of 'nigger lover' by many citizens. Finch, however, does not mind people calling him 'nigger-lover'. Instead, he says that he loves all people and would not be unfair.

The case is about Thomas Robinson taking advantage of Mayella's father, Robert Ewell's absence to rape her. This offense is capable of getting a death penalty, and since the best lawyer in town refuses to defend him, Atticus Finch decides to defend him.

This is the first post from my two posts regarding the online learning. My biggest learning style is Intrapersonal, therefore I will start from there. My choice of question is "Who I would want to be friends with in the novel."

I would like to be friends with Jeremy "Jem" Atticus Finch. This is because he likes to joke around sometimes, but he learns quite quickly. Also, he is creative, as he forms games for his sister and cousin to play. He has a distinct personality, making him able to make decisions and learn about people around him, thus caring for their feelings.

He will make his feelings be seen, even though he is not satisfied. Therefore, he is a straightforward person. He has some knowledge of everything and everyone in Maycomb County, making him and experienced person of the life in Maycomb.

These are the reasons why Jem would be my friend in the novel.
